There are Some questions answered by some kym fans WE KNOW!!

We chat to Kym Marsh
Popstar ... Kym Marsh answers your questions

By SIMON ROTHSTEIN

WHEN sexy singer Kym Marsh came in for a webchat this week there were lots of questions you wanted answered.

We had tonnes of posers sent in on everything from why Kym walked out of Popstars' winners Hear'Say to her recent marriage to ex-EastEnders hunk Jack Ryder.

And the stunner revealed all in our exclusive chat, telling us why she was upset when Hear'Say split up and how she plans to get back in touch with her ex-band mates.

The mother of two also spilt the beans on hubby Jack's romantic side, her plans to have more children and why she prefers Coronation Street to Albert Square.

Kym also told us about her bid for solo stardom and great new single Cry, which is out on April 7.

Hi Kym, I've been following your career since the first episode of Popstars. The last time you had a single out was over a year ago so I want to know what have you been up to since then?
Courtney, London

After I left Hear'Say I had a bit of a rest and a good think about what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. I needed to decide which direction I wanted to take my music in.

Then I spent six months recording my album, which I finished in December.

This year has been quite mad. I filmed the video for Cry in Cape Town, South Africa, and I've been promoting the single since then.

I've also been in training to get myself fit and lose a little bit of weight. So it's been quite a hectic time.

And I got married!

Was it a hard decision to launch a solo career and do you find it weird singing without Hear'Say being there?
Michelle

For a few months I didn't know what I was going to do and was trying to decide. I've always wanted to be a singer so it felt natural to go down the solo route.

A lot of the time it is easier being solo, for example you can do your thing in the studio without having to wait around for everybody else. It's the same with photo shoots, as there is only one person who needs to have their hair and make-up done.

It does get lonely, but now I've got a band for live appearances who are around all the time.

Hi Kym, how do you find balancing your time between being a wife and mother and re-launching your pop career?
Jamie, Inverness

It was much more difficult being in Hear'Say. Being part of a band is always very busy, but being in Hear'Say was even busier because we were part of a huge TV show and so there were lots of demands on our time. We hit the ground running and it was a very full on and hectic experience.

Being a solo artist is very different. You can make decisions for yourself rather than having to go with what the group decide with a band it is usually four against one or three against two. And when you've got responsibilities like being a mother of two children it can be difficult to fit in with the rest of the band's plans.

I've now got much more control and a lot more say over what I do.

I've read many different stories on why you left Hear'Say, can you put the record straight?
Mark Murray, Belfast

Basically my reason for leaving Hear'Say is that we were so busy I didn't get to spend enough time with my children. And although the children were OK, I wasn't really.

When you've had kids and you're used to being with them from the day they were born, suddenly you feel a bit of part-time parent.

I'm very close to my family and I felt being in Hear'Say wasn't right for me. It was too much to cope with and I became very depressed and decided to leave. Being a solo artist enables me to have a singing career and spend time with my children.

Also we did feel restricted in our music and image, it was very much "you're going to sing this". Although we had choices it still had to be very pop.

I loved Pure And Simple, I really did, but from there on in especially by the time we released Everybody it had become out and out pop. And right from the start we said that was what we didn't want to do.

Our fan base was getting younger and younger and we felt restricted, even down to what we wore.

I have complete control now, the whole style of music I'm doing came from me as it is what I approached the record companies with.

I knew I had to get away from this butch image I had. This time around I think I'm more me.

Were you surprised or upset when Hear'Say called it a day and have you spoken to any of the band since then?
Sarah Jones

I was shocked and I was a little bit upset. I know people will say, "why? You're the one who walked away," but at the end of the day I was part of the creation of Hear'Say. And I was sad, because it was an end of an era.

I haven't spoken to the others yet but I'm planning to.

It's all Hear'Say ... Kym would like to meet up with Myleene

Myleene said on the Frank Skinner show that she has no hard feelings about you leaving the band? Do you think the two of you will meet up in the future?
Pamela and Claire

I really don't see why not. The thing is with me and Myleene and that whole episode is that everything has been blown out of all proportion. Yes, we did have arguments but not to the degree everyone thought we did.

I have no bad feeling towards Myleene and I wish her and the others all the best. If it ever happened that there was a chance for us to meet up and have a chat, then I'm sure both of us would.

Is there anything you would change about your career up until now?
Krissie

No. Being a part of Hear'Say is what brought me to where I am now. Let's face it I wouldn't have been given this opportunity if I hadn't been involved with that band.

I think being from a place like Wigan, you don't know how to get into this industry. There aren't really outlets up North where you can get a foot in the door. And I think being part of Hear'Say did that for me.

That's why I like these reality TV programmes, I know people are saying they're fed up with them but for people who don't live in London and don't have contacts it's very difficult to know where to go and what to do.

So I wouldn't have changed that at all. I would have preferred things to be a little more amicable between me and the band, but you can't always have it your own way.

I saw your wedding pictures and they looked amazing. How was the day for you and were there any last minute hitches?
Anna, Chester

There were hitches all the way along leading up to the event. My mum told me that always happens in our family but on the day everything goes really smoothly. I was hoping that would be the case, and it was.

Even the weather was on our side, it held out while we had the pictures taken and the minute we went into the marquee, the heavens opened. We were really lucky.

The whole day flew past so quickly, one minute we were in the church and before we knew it was night and we were dancing in the gardens.

It was a fabulous day and a welcome break, as I'd been recording for a couple of months by then.

How's married life treating you?
Dave, Derby

Everybody wants to know that! It's all fabulous and better than I would have expected. Everyone always says that it all goes downhill when you get married, but everything's been great for us.

I know you already have two kids from a previous relationship, but are you and Jack planning to have children together?
Simon, Wolverhampton

Yes, we are. We are hoping to have children in the next couple of years or so. I want to get this year out of the way and establish myself as a solo artist before then.

We'd like to have two children together, which will keep me very busy!

What's the most romantic thing Jack has ever done for you?
Louise, Bradford

He's done loads of things for me. Everyone already knows the story about when he proposed to me with a little treasure hunt.

Since then he's done loads more stuff, like this Valentines Day for example. I came home from working really hard and the room was filled with candles and flowers. He cooked a meal for us and threw rose petals all over the table.

He bought me a beautiful diamond cross and wrote me the most gorgeous letter telling me exactly how he felt about me and how much he loved me.

In general he does lots of things, like he'll run me a bath when I get home from work. He's so sweet.

Good Ryder ... Kym talks about her love for Jack

I hear you're having a new house built, what's it going to be like and where are you living at the moment?
Neil, Essex

We are waiting for the house to be built but it keeps being put back because of problems with planning.

The house that we're in at the moment is one I bought for my parents, so we're lodging with them.

It's just a good job that we all get on. I know it sounds strange but Jack gets on unbelievably well with my mum and dad, and they've never liked any of my boyfriends!

Do you still watch EastEnders?
Karen, Leeds

Well the thing is I was never really a huge EastEnders fan, even when Jack was in it I'd only watch it to see him.

I'm more of a Coronation Street girl.

I just think no-one's life is like EastEnders, it's just so miserable. Also I've recently noticed that there's not one couple in that Square where one of the partners hasn't had an affair. Even with Dot and Jim, Jim's been playing away! Not even Arthur and Pauline stayed faithful.

Jamie was a naughty boy too. Jack and I used to laugh about Jamie, as usually people can identify with their characters but Jack could not identify with Jamie at all. He doesn't drink and would never have an affair. I think it was fun for him to play someone who was his complete opposite.

Did you ever get jealous when Jack had love scenes with Natalie Cassidy (Sonia) or Michelle Ryan (Zoe)?
Suzie, Glasgow

Not at all. At the end of the day that's his job and it's just skin against skin, nothing more. There's no emotion there, and there are about 40 other people in the room.

It's weird and it takes a bit of getting used to. I've never sat there and gone, "wow that was a fabulous snog!" But you do get used to it.

It was the same with his dying scene, you just have to say to yourself "that's not Jack, it's Jamie."

I think you are so so lucky going out with Jack, when will he be back on TV? Is it true he was meant to playing the part of Darius on Footballers' Wives?
Jenny, Manchester

Jack's not working at the moment, but he is busy looking through scripts. He's taking his time and being choosy, he's turned down a lot of things. He feels it's important to pick the right part, and that is something I really admire.

He definitely wasn't offered Footballers' Wives but he has been offered a couple of things where the character is very Jamie-ish. But the whole point of him leaving EastEnders was to prove that he could play other parts, and he's holding out for the right one.

Hi Kim, I can't wait to hear the album, what style of music is it? Is it something that people might be a little surprised by?
Kirsty Offer, Nottingham

It's all very similar to Cry really, it's very guitar based with nothing too emotional or romantic. There are two slow songs on there, but they're not too sloppy.

It's all pop music, but I think it is a bit cooler and more edgy. It's not quite as polished or overproduced as stuff I've done before.

I co-wrote three tracks on the album, and I've co-written a few b-sides as well. But for me, it was more about making the right record.

I think that if you're not an amazing songwriter it's more important to get the music right, because if you don't no one is going to care whether you've written it or not. All that will come with time and experience.

Hi Kym. I am a huge fan of yours and would really love to meet you. I would like to know if you have written any songs about Jack?
Louise Hale, Oxford

Yeah, there are a couple of songs on the album that relate to Jack and the children, and also to the way I see myself in general.

There is one track called Because Of You, which I wrote for the children. It is just me and an acoustic guitar, it is a lullaby type track.

They love the song, my daughter started crying when I played it to her. She's only five but she is very emotional. Jack said to her the other day, "I'll always always love you," and she just started crying. I asked her why and she said, "because that was so nice."

The other two songs that I co-wrote are very much based on my life and Jack and the children.

Stunner ... Kym at Sun Online

I really love your new single Cry and your great new look. Will you be doing a tour to promote your new album? I'd love to hear you perform your new songs live!
Paul Richards, Northants

I'd love to do a tour but it's very early days and I have to see how things go. I'm not counting my chickens before they've hatched.

If there's a call for it then I'd love to go on tour, there is nothing like performing live for your fans, that is the best feeling ever.

Who is your favourite singer of all time? P.S. You're beautiful.
Paul Constantine, Manchester

Thanks. My favourite singer ever is Karen Carpenter.

Do you have any tips for Girls Aloud and One True Voice?
Becky, Newcastle

I feel quite sorry for them in a way. They've come into the business at the time people are saying they are sick of reality TV shows. I just hope they can get something out of it and I think that with the right management and guidance they can.

It disappoints me with the boys as I was really rooting for them when the show was on. I think Girls Aloud are great looking girls with a couple of great singers, but I felt that the guys were a little bit more talented.

Daniel and Anton are fantastic singers and they kept going on about being a vocal harmony group. So I thought they were going to come out with something amazing. But when they brought that single out I was confused, as it didn't really show them off as fabulous singers. And then Girls Aloud brought out their song and it was great.

I was really into the show, I watched it all the way through every weekend. The audition process brought back a lot of memories but the final part was more like Pop Idol than Popstars. It was so interesting to see what it felt like being on the other side.

I voted all the way through - I voted for Nicola, Nadine, Kimberley, Sarah and Javine, who I'm sure will do well despite not getting in the band. And I voted for all the boys in One True Voice, except for Jamie.

I am glad industry people chose Hear'Say, as I feel that sometimes when the public vote they vote for the wrong reasons. So I wouldn't have had a chance of getting in!

What's your favourite biscuit?
Kitty, Wigan

Good question. It has to be Jaffa Cakes. The problem with Jaffa Cakes is that you can never have just one. The good news is they are one of the least fattening biscuits.

You were famously blasted by 'Nasty' Nigel on Popstars for being overweight, how have you got back in shape?
Peter, Edinburgh

When I was in the Popstars house I went up a dress size. I didn't feel it was that much but it was made a big deal out of because of what was said on the show.

I always wanted to lose the weight again but being in the band didn't give me the chance, especially as I wanted to spend my spare time with my family.

When I left Hear'Say I just felt uncomfortable, my trousers felt too tight and my fat sat on top of them. I thought to myself, "I really need to get rid of this."

I'm always full of good intentions, but I don't always carry it out. So I enlisted the help of my friend who is a fitness trainer, and he basically kicked my butt! Within eight weeks I'd noticed a difference.

I run three times a week and do 300 sit-ups a day.

Where do you see your career heading over the next few years?
Natalie Barrett

I'm just going to keep my head down and do my very best to establish myself as an artist. I'm going to give it everything I've got.

I'm the new kid on the block at the moment and I've got an awful lot to learn, and a lot to prove. I'm very determined and I'm going to try my best to be a success.
